    Alma Four Classic Cycling

    Alma Four Classic Cycling

    It looks like an
Indian Four and it rides like an Indian Four, but this motorcycle has never been anywhere near Springfield, Massachusetts. Sitting in the frame is a one-liter NSU car engine, mated to a four-speed gearbox and shaft drive from a European pre-war motorcycle. The frame is a one-off, built to accommodate the tall SOHC engine; on a genuine Indian Four frame, there’s an additional straight tube running under the gas tanks. But the look is just right, helped by a vintage 1920s headlight and a repro Indian front end and fenders. The detailing elsewhere is lovely: the tanks, flywheel housing and engine sump are beautifully cast in aluminum. The forms for these were made by owner/builder Bartholin, who spent literally hundreds of hours on those three parts alone. Bartholin is an industrial designer and this project took him eight years—rather than the two he anticipated—partly because he was perennially broke, and partly because he got married and had kids along the way. The Alma Four apparently handles well, given that it’s based on a vintage American behemoth. And thanks to the air-cooled NSU Prinz engine, reliability is not an issue. (The motor was also used in the Münch Mammut, by the way.) Purists may scoff, but there’s something oddly appealing about this motorcycle. It’s a mix of vintage and modern componentry put together with great skill and a sensitive eye. And there’s something to be said for a bike of any description that starts first time in the morning.

Snorton gets a bit of a makeover............

Picked up a nice period fiberglass comp tank on Ebay last week, so I set to this afternoon and pulled the old heavy and leaky tank off the Norton, temp fitted with some foam underneath til I get the final position sorted and backed up with a Wassell single scrambler seat, think I might attack the rear muddie next!

    Backyard Casting

I used to do a bit of casting as part of my "day job" in our family run jewellery workshop. Mainly using silver and gold I used a delft clay and some aluminium flasks to produce one off pieces that could be finished off by hand. I had some success with this process and found that it was great for reproducing detailed reproductions of existing pieces. The downsides of the method for producing bike related parts were mainly that you couldnt melt enough metal to pour the size of pieces I would want without having some sort of forge to get the metal (aluminium usuall) to 1340 deg to pour it successfully, and the 4" flasks were quite limiting!

I have been looking at the possibility of casting some of the hard to find pieces I need/want for my Indian projects, and found a couple of really informative sites

Lanstrom's Foundry Where the Warpath Indian cases are cast - awesome!

Backyard Metal Casting some great how to's and a whole lotta source info here

So I'm off into town on monday to buy me some fire cement and fireclay bricks! I'm gonna build me a forge ;-)

    Bridge

A man was riding his Indian along a California beach when suddenly the sky cleared above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said,

'Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.'

The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.'

The Lord said, 'Your request is materialistic. Think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind.'

The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, 'Lord, I wish that I and all men could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy.'

The Lord replied, 'You want two lanes or four lanes on that bridge?'

Yamaha FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corse Concept Bike

The collaboration between Abarth and Intel was begun with the aim of developing innovative products and devices, based on original concepts and state-of-the-art technology.

The first result of the partnership, which was made possible by the support of RTR Sports Marketing, a consultancy agency that specialises in sports marketing, is the Abarth Powerplay Extreme personal computer, a high performance desktop powered by the new Intel® CoreTM i7 Extreme processor, the most powerful microchip ever produced by Intel.

It is an “extreme” product, destined to a very demanding public, which Intel has decided to launch in Europe, co-branded with Abarth, and the “from 0 to 100″ exhibition was chosen as the setting for its world preview.

The Abarth Powerplay Extreme PC, produced by Brain Technology Spa, a leading Italian company in the design, manufacture and distribution of advanced tailor-made IT solutions, has features that reflect the values of the Abarth brand: it is compact and fast with an innovative design and, thanks to the latest generation Intel® CoreTM i7 Extreme processor, it slots in at the top of the market in terms of performance.

The decision to celebrate the collaboration between the two brands with the launch of a product designed for videogamers emerged from the realisation that this market segment is a rigorous test bench for personal computers. Videogamers are some of the most demanding users, able to assess a computer’s real performance and to push it to its highest limits.

Abarth and Intel intend to present the first fruit of their partnership all over Europe. The Yamaha FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corse Concept Bike

Modifying material with the force of passion. This philosophy, which is close to the Yamaha and Scorpion brands, has inspired the creation of a unique Concept Bike, on which ideas of exclusiveness and beauty add value to the standard production.

The FZ1 is the most powerful “naked” bike on the market, thanks to the 150 bhp of its engine derived from the supersporty R1; it has been embellished by carbon, aluminium and titanium components, ultra-adjustable suspension, monobloc brake callipers and daisy discs. Thanks to materials and technical solutions that have been experimented on circuits all over the world, the FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corse takes the riding experience to a higher level.

The FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corso is distinguished by the classic Abarth livery which combines the Scorpion and Yamaha’s three tuning-fork logo to create a unique, exclusive model, and a new stylistic and technological benchmark.

    Tim's TriBSA 3 and a bit.........

Moving on toi the motor and gearbox, the clutch seemed to be disengaged when kicking the motor over there was no resistance, so last night I pulled the primary cover off and found that there were no plates or springs in the clutch basket. This morning I had a rummage in the shed and found a Hayward belt drive alloy clutch basket c/w a full 4 spring clutch assembly, I temporarily nicked the plates, springs and pressure plate and fitted them up, motor spins quite freely on the kickstart now so at least its not seized up.
I'm going to take the single chain primary set up off and keep it for the Indian Junior Scout, which will be running a Triumph 4 speed box. I'll get the right size of belt from Tony H and fit the belt drive kit with an alloy pressure plate to the TriBSA.

    1971 Ford Mustang Modified

The Ford Mustang Mach 1 was a performance model of the Ford Mustang that Ford produced beginning in 1969. The original production run of the Mach 1 ended in 1979 because the Mustang II coupe was being phased out in favor of newer Mustangs on the Fox body platform.

Regardless of the specific power plant, the lines of the 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback cannot be mistaken, nor underestimated. Conceived at what was arguably the height of Ford’s powers of concentration on the performance car market, and though the moment was ultimately to be short lived, the products of this brief time constitute among the most important and sought after vehicles of the entire muscle car movement.

Finished in painfully attractive Raven Black with exceptional red Corinthian vinyl interior, this astonishingly restored 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback has been completely rotisserie restored and features: Freshly rebuilt 351cid Windsor V8, with flat top pistons, new Holly carburetor, new Edelbrock intake, stock FMX automatic transmission, fresh bushings and suspension components, fresh interior, and more.

This remarkable Mach1 will be the centerpiece of any Mustang event, is in superb running order, and is as stunning in the garage as it is on the green, or in the valet parking lane. For those seeking among the most finely refinished Mach 1s available today, and a piece which will provide memories for your children like those provided for you—the moment has arrived. Tim's TriBSA 3

A good day today, had a couple of hours down in the lockup, stripped the B40 of its front end, swing arm and wheels. Set the TriBSA up on the stand and pulled the Yamaha back wheel off and put it in the Ebay pile. Fitted the Montesa rear wheel in the BSA swingarm, the spindle is too narrow so I'll have to take a run over to my mate Colin's workshop where I keep my lathe and turn ap a couple of adapters and a spacer. The Ceriani front end c/w matching front Montesa wheel was an easy swap I will need to make up a 3/4" spacer to take up the extra spindle length in the yokes but other than that the jobs a goodun!

Built My Own Boardtracker - I name it "2012"

    My 1'st and 2'nd BT

And Now i built it by my self again for my own ride, just waiting accomplished.

    The 3'rd

Wah, untuk yang ke 3 ini, sudah cukup lama juga, sambil mencari dan mengumpulkan part-part yang aneh-aneh, yang mungkin saja dapat digunakan nantinya.
